ABOUT ME

Kara is a Speech-Language Pathologist (M.A. CCC-SLP), Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, and founder of Reading Therapy with Kara. Kara has been serving students and their families for over 30 years. Throughout her career, Kara has maintained the passionate about giving children the tools they need to succeed by teaching reading through research-based methods. This approach truly meets each learner where they are on their reading journey. Giving children the confidence, joy and opportunity that comes with reading has always been at the heart of Kara’s work.

After many years of helping students strengthen their speech and language skills, Kara recognized how deeply foundational speech and language skills are in support of literacy development. This led her to become a Wilson Reading Practitioner, providing explicat, systematic multisensory reading instruction for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges. She knows every child can improve their reading skills when they receive the right instruction, encouragement, and support. Her goal is not only to improve their reading skills but also to help children build confidence in themselves as learners.

Kara understands that reading struggles can affect the entire family, which is why she believes parents, grandparents and caregivers are an important part of every child’s success. She values creating strong partnerships with each family, celebrating milestones together, and providing encouragement every step of the way. At Reading Therapy with Kara, every child is welcomed with patience, compassion, and understanding, creating a supportive environment where students can grow into confident readers and lifelong learners.
